There are no direct flights from Switzerland; getting there usually involves one or two stopovers, for example via Dubai, Singapore or Los Angeles, to Auckland Airport. Total travel time is around 24 to 28 hours. An electronic travel authority (NZeTA) must be applied for online before departure.

The official languages are English and Māori. English is spoken and understood consistently throughout the country, while Māori terms are increasingly used in everyday life, on signage and at official events.

The New Zealand dollar (NZD) is the official currency. Card payment is common almost everywhere, even for small amounts, so cash is rarely needed in daily life.

New Zealand ranks among the more expensive destinations worldwide, with a price level similar to or slightly above Switzerland. Campervan road trips and vacation rentals can lower costs, while activities like bungee jumping and guided tours add up.
