There are no direct flights from Switzerland; the journey usually involves a stopover in London to Bridgetown Airport. The total travel time is about 13 to 16 hours. Swiss citizens do not need a visa for tourist stays, a valid passport is sufficient.

The Barbadian Dollar (BBD) is pegged to the US dollar, which is also accepted everywhere. Credit cards are widespread in hotels and restaurants, though some cash is recommended for smaller expenses.

Barbados ranks among the more expensive Caribbean destinations, with hotel prices on the Platinum Coast often above those of Switzerland, while simpler accommodations inland are more affordable.
