Surrounded by a massive city wall, the medieval old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and houses the famous Street of the Knights, lined by the inns of the former Knights Hospitaller, as well as the impressive Palace of the Grand Master.

The picturesque village of Lindos, with its white, cubic houses, is crowned by an ancient acropolis housing the ruins of a Temple of Athena, offering a spectacular view over two turquoise bays from there.

In the shaded valley crossed by a stream, thousands of Jersey Tiger moths gather at the height of summer, drawn by the forest's damp coolness — a unique natural spectacle in the heart of the island.

At the entrance to Mandraki Harbour stand two columns with deer statues, traditionally said to mark the spot where the ancient Colossus of Rhodes once stood, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, while colourful fishing boats bob in the harbour.

Direct flights to Rhodes operate in peak season from several European cities, with a flight time from Zurich of around three and a half hours. Ferries also connect the island with Athens (Piraeus) several times a week, taking about ten to fifteen hours.
