From Ljubljana, Bohinj can be reached by bus in about two hours, while the trip from nearby Bled takes only about 30 minutes.

Question 2

Why is Lake Bohinj less crowded than Lake Bled?

Accepted Answer

Unlike the more famous Lake Bled, Bohinj lies deeper within Triglav National Park and therefore remains much quieter and more pristine, making it a hidden gem for a nature-focused vacation away from the tourist crowds despite its larger surface area.

Question 3

How do you reach the Savica waterfall near Bohinj?

Accepted Answer

A roughly 25-minute hiking trail with several hundred steps leads to the spectacular, two-part waterfall, which plunges from a height of about 78 meters into a turquoise pool and is considered the source of the Sava Bohinjka river.

Question 4

What hikes can you take from Bohinj?

Accepted Answer

The lake lies at the heart of Triglav National Park and serves as an ideal starting point for hikes to Slovenia's highest mountain as well as to remote alpine pastures and mountain lakes that are far less crowded than comparable destinations in the Alps.
