Discover Serengeti National Park

Every year, over two million wildebeest, zebras and gazelles move in an endless cycle through the Serengeti and across the Mara River in search of fresh grazing, considered one of the most spectacular natural spectacles on Earth.

The name Serengeti derives from the Maasai word for endless plain, and indeed the golden savanna landscape stretches to the horizon, interrupted only by scattered acacia trees and striking granite outcrops.

Lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo and the rarer rhinos all live in the park, with the Serengeti especially known for its large and well-studied lion population, which can often be observed on game drives.

A hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti offers a unique perspective on the vastness of the savanna and its wildlife from above, followed traditionally by a champagne breakfast in the wilderness.

From Arusha, the park can be reached by car in about five to six hours, while several small airstrips within the park itself are served regularly by charter flights from Arusha.
