The dense primeval forest nature reserve is considered one of the last original palm forests in the world and was declared a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site in 1983 for its unique flora, including the endemic coco de mer palm.

The palm, endemic to the Seychelles, produces the largest and heaviest seed pod in the plant kingdom, whose unusual shape has fascinated sailors and naturalists alike for centuries and given rise to numerous legends.

The secluded bays of Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette captivate with fine white sand, crystal-clear water and striking granite boulders, and regularly rank among the highest-rated beaches of the entire island group.

The rare, dark-plumed Seychelles black parrot is endemic to Praslin and a few neighboring islands, and can occasionally be spotted in the wild during attentive walks through the Vallée de Mai.

From Mahé, Praslin Airport is served several times daily with a flight time of about 15 minutes. Alternatively, ferries cover the route in about an hour.
