Discover Dahab

This world-famous hole in the reef drops more than 100 meters straight down and draws divers from around the globe. Even while snorkeling at the rim, the enormous depth and colorful coral wall are impressively evident.

Along the relaxed waterfront promenade, Bedouin cafés with cushioned seating line the water's edge, where you can enjoy tea and shisha while gazing at the mountains of Saudi Arabia across the Red Sea.

The shallow, wind-protected lagoon south of town offers ideal conditions for beginners in kite- and windsurfing, while experienced surfers practice their jumps further out on open water.

A nighttime climb up the biblical Mount Sinai, not far from Dahab, ends with a spectacular sunrise over the desert landscape and a visit to the centuries-old Saint Catherine's Monastery at the foot of the mountain.

Direct flights land in Sharm El Sheikh, from where it's about a 1.5-hour taxi or bus ride on to Dahab. Dahab has no airport of its own.

Arabic is the official language. Thanks to the large international diving and backpacker community, English is very widely spoken in Dahab.

Dahab is a good destination virtually year-round, but the months of March to May and September to November are most pleasant without extreme heat.
