The monastery complex at the entrance to Rugova Gorge is the seat of the Serbian Orthodox Patriarch and houses churches up to four centuries old with well-preserved medieval frescoes, which is why it is listed, along with other Serbian monasteries in Kosovo, as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The gorge cut deep into the mountains west of Peja passes steep rock faces, crystal-clear mountain streams and hiking trails leading into the Bjeshkët e Namuna National Park, and ranks among the most spectacular natural landscapes in the entire Balkans.

The historic Çarshia e Peja, with its small workshops for coppersmiths, tailors and shoemakers, offers an authentic glimpse of Ottoman craft and trade, complemented by cafés and food stalls serving local specialties.

Known as the Accursed Mountains, this range ranks among the wildest and most untouched mountain regions in Europe, with rugged peaks over 2,500 meters, crystal-clear alpine lakes and hiking routes like the well-known Peaks of the Balkans trail through Kosovo, Albania and Montenegro.

Pristina International Airport lies about 85 kilometers to the east and is reachable by bus or rental car in a good 1.5 hours. Long-distance buses also run several times a day from Pristina straight into the center of Peja.
