The nearby national park protects one of South Africa's last untouched coastal ancient forests with centuries-old yellowwood trees, and also offers one of the highest bungee jumps in the world from Bloukrans Bridge.

The nearby Featherbed Nature Reserve can only be reached by boat across the lagoon and offers guided walks through pristine fynbos with spectacular views of the lagoon and the Indian Ocean.

From Cape Town, Knysna can be reached by car along the famous Garden Route in about five to six hours; alternatively, regional flights serve the small nearby George Airport.
