Discover Hwange National Park

Covering an area of about 14,600 square kilometers, Hwange ranks among Africa's largest wildlife reserves and is home to one of the densest elephant populations on the entire continent, estimated at over 40,000 animals.

Besides vast elephant herds, the park is home to lions, leopards, buffalo and the rare African wild dog, which can be observed on multi-day game drives and guided walks with experienced rangers.

Since the park has no permanent natural rivers, numerous waterholes are artificially supplied by pumps, which especially in the dry season leads to spectacular gatherings of hundreds of elephants at a single water source.

Numerous luxury lodges on the park's edge offer sunrise game drives, night safaris and walks with armed rangers, enabling an intense safari experience away from the big tourist crowds.

From Victoria Falls, the park can be reached by car in about ninety minutes, while the small Hwange airport is served by charter flight from several lodges.
