Founded in 1948 as Nigeria's oldest university, the University of Ibadan shaped generations of West African intellectuals and has a sprawling, park-like campus with historic colonial buildings, ideal for a quiet walk away from the city bustle.

Built in British colonial style in the 1920s, the town hall complex sits atop one of the city's seven hills and once served as an administrative seat, while the surrounding viewing terrace offers a sweeping view over Ibadan's densely built cityscape.

Situated on Oke Are hill and erected in 1936 in honor of a British colonial administrator, the tower offers, after a short climb, one of the best panoramic views over the rooftops of the sprawling city of Ibadan.

From Lagos, Ibadan is reached via the busy highway in about two to three hours by car or bus. A small airport also offers occasional charter flights from Lagos and Abuja.
