The expansive park on the edge of the city was the site of the decisive battle between British and French troops in 1759, and today serves as a green recreational oasis with hiking trails, a museum and views of the Saint Lawrence River.

North America's oldest commercial street winds along the foot of the cliff below the upper town and impresses with small boutiques, cafés and the striking Fresque des Québécois, a monumental mural depicting the city's history.

Québec City Jean Lesage Airport is located about 18 kilometers west of the old town and is reachable by taxi or rental car in about 20 minutes. Trains and long-distance buses also run several times daily from Montreal, taking a good three hours directly into downtown.
